Kiln dry sand is a very fine sand that contains no moisture and is ideal for block paving. The reason the sand is kiln dried is to ensure it flows easily into the joints and settles at the bottom without sticking to the sides.

This helps stabilise and strengthen the paving block structure. If the joints of your block paving are left without kiln dry sand then they may sink due to water penetration and the blocks will become loose over time.

You should always replace any missing sand after installation or after cleaning your blocks.

A bag of sand would be expected to cover approximately 4 - 5m2
